More Than 20 Circassian Diaspora Organizations Appeal to the Head of KBR Regarding the Case of Nurdin Keref

More than 20 Circassian (Caucasian) diaspora civil society organizations have sent an appeal to the Head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, in connection with the case of Nurdin Keref.
The authors of the appeal demand that all circumstances surrounding the death of Nurdin Keref be established, that his body be released to his family, and that an independent forensic medical examination be ensured.
In addition, the organizations call for an investigation into allegations of possible unlawful detention, torture, and forced mobilization of Nurdin Keref, as well as an immediate end to threats and pressure against his family.
The appeal specifically addresses the emergence of images of Nurdin Keref in the public domain and the circulating narrative claiming that he allegedly volunteered for the Russian army. The authors demand an independent verification of the authenticity of these materials and the circumstances surrounding their distribution.
“Until open, transparent, and verifiable answers are provided to these questions, it is impossible to eliminate the doubts surrounding the death of Nurdin Keref.”
